How we calculated this sample
This example uses 56 Florida Level-benefit observations for $10,000 of coverage at ages 50–80: 28 Female and 28 Male observations from three companies and four plans. The samples use nonsmoker rates and automatic bank payment (EFT). This is a Level-benefit sample only—not every Final Expense policy type, not all 594 observations in the broader research set, and not a market average or personal quote.

You do not need to know which policy type you may qualify for. The examples below show the pricing categories separately, and an application is needed to know which options may actually be available to you.
Sample prices shown here use Florida nonsmoker examples and automatic bank payment (EFT). These are educational examples, not personal quotes or approval decisions.
Why benefit design matters
Not every Final Expense policy pays the full benefit for death from illness or other natural causes right away. The type of policy you may qualify for depends on the application and the insurance company's rules.
Level Benefit
For an eligible applicant, the full natural-death benefit generally begins right away, subject to the policy terms.
Limited / Graded Benefit
These policies may limit the benefit during the first few policy years. The exact schedule varies by policy, so compare both the price and when the full benefit begins. Learn About Waiting Periods and Graded Benefits →
Guaranteed Issue
Guaranteed Issue policies may accept eligible applicants without health questions, but they can use different benefit schedules and eligibility rules. Learn About Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance →

Generis original sample-rate research
What Generis found in the sample
Company-level prices varied meaningfully. Across 80 Level-benefit age, sex, and coverage profiles with at least two observed companies, the median spread between the lowest and highest company-level median was 26.0%. Available plans varied, and price alone does not measure policy value, eligibility, benefit timing, or suitability.
The two age endpoints were far apart. Across 16 observations supporting the age-50 and age-80 medians for $10,000 of Level coverage, the age-80 median was about four times the age-50 median for females and about four-and-a-half times for males. This compares two observed endpoints; it is not an annual increase or a forecast.
Florida nonsmoker samples using Bank Draft/EFT. Bars begin at zero and compare observed endpoints only; they are not a forecast or a national average.
About this research
What the Final Expense sample includes
Important: This is a limited Florida sample, not a national average, a personal quote, or a guarantee of eligibility. Available companies, plans, benefits, and prices can change.
Will I qualify for the rates shown?
These are sample rates, not approval decisions. Simplified-issue coverage may use health questions and other application details without a traditional medical exam. The insurer reviews the application and decides whether coverage is available, which benefit design may apply, and what premium it can offer.
Different companies can evaluate the same information differently. This page does not ask you to choose a health class and cannot determine whether you will qualify.
How we got these prices
The master research snapshot contains 1,144 rows. The public launch subset contains 594 verified Florida observations: 294 Level and 300 limited/graded observations for ages 50–85, $5,000–$25,000 of coverage, the source's nonsmoker value, and Bank Draft/EFT. Guaranteed Issue numeric rows remain excluded.
The 594 source observations produce 160 sanitized consumer-category aggregates: 80 Level profiles and 80 Limited / Graded profiles. The explorer uses exact observed combinations only. It does not interpolate, extrapolate, scale, substitute, or estimate missing prices. Unique company counts and limited-benefit schedule counts were computed from the raw internal rows before publication without exposing company, product, plan, tier, source-file, or underwriting identifiers.
Collection snapshot: the 294 Level observations map to requests collected September 10, 2026 UTC, and the 300 limited-benefit observations carry October 1, 2026 UTC quote timestamps. The Final Expense launch-subset audit is dated October 3, 2026. These are collection and analysis dates—not carrier rate effective dates. All 594 source effective-date fields are blank. Prices and availability can change; the issued policy and current insurer offer control.
See technical data details and limitations
- Monthly and yearly values in the research source are separate returned values; neither was calculated from the other. This page displays monthly values.
- The Limited / Graded result combines the three verified early-benefit schedules for range context, lists only the schedules represented for the selected profile, and does not publish a pooled median.
- Level exact matches contain three or four plan observations. Limited / Graded exact matches contain four observations and three schedules through age 80; age 85 contains two observations and two schedules.
- Guaranteed Issue numeric rates are excluded pending verification of state applicability, effective or revision date, product/form applicability, and complete payment assumptions.
Why your actual rate can differ
Your actual premium and available policy can depend on age; sex where applicable and legal; health and application answers; tobacco or nicotine use; state; coverage amount; benefit design; insurance company; and payment method. A sample on this page is not a personal quote or promise of eligibility.
How this page differs from the Final Expense Cost & Coverage guide
This Rates page owns sample numeric premiums: exact rate lookups, age and coverage tables, and benefit-design pricing context. The Final Expense Cost & Coverage guide explains which expenses to consider, how much coverage may be needed, what affects cost, and how to plan using needs minus resources.
For broader permanent-coverage pricing beyond the $5,000–$25,000 Final Expense range, see Whole Life Insurance rates.
